Name: Anthurium lentii Croat & R.A.Baker
Etymology: The genus name Anthurium derives from the Greek words anthos (“flower”) and oura (“tail”). The species epithet lentii honors Roy Lent, who collected the species in Costa Rica.
First described: In 1979 by Thomas B. Croat and R.A. Baker.
Origin/Distribution: Costa Rica and Panama to northwestern South America.
Habitat: Terrestrial to epiphytic in moist tropical mountain forests. We grow the species under intermediate to warm conditions at about 17–26 °C, with high humidity, good air circulation, and bright to partially shaded indirect light. We keep the coarse, humus-rich substrate consistently slightly moist.
Description and notes: Anthurium lentii has elongated, firm leaves with prominent primary veins. The leaf blade may appear slightly wavy or textured between the veins. The species grows best with consistent moisture and a well-aerated root zone.
