Name: Anthurium gustavii Regel
Etymology: Anthurium is derived from the Greek words “anthos” (flower) and “oura” (tail). The specific epithet honors the German plant collector Gustav Wallis.
Origin/Distribution: Colombia.
Location/Habitat: A tropical species from the warm, very humid forests of the Colombian Chocó. For cultivation, temperatures of approximately 21–29 °C, high humidity, bright to partially shaded conditions, and good air circulation are recommended.
Description and Notes: This rarely cultivated species develops large, impressive, velvety-looking leaves with distinctive venation. We recommend a coarse, well-draining aroid substrate that is kept evenly lightly moist. Direct sunlight, prolonged dryness, and continuously compacted, wet soil should be avoided.
