Description

Anthurium dressleri s

Name: Anthurium dressleri Croat

Etymology: The specific epithet dressleri honors the American botanist Robert L. Dressler.

First description: 1978 by Thomas B. Croat.

Origin/Distribution: Panama.

Location/Habitat: Terrestrial in warm, very humid lowland forests. We cultivate the species in warm conditions at approximately 20–28 °C, high humidity, good air circulation, and bright, indirect light. We keep the coarse, humus-rich, and very airy substrate consistently slightly moist.

Description and notes: Anthurium dressleri is particularly sought after for its exceptionally dark, velvety leaves. In young plants, the typical dark leaf effect becomes increasingly apparent with maturity.
