Description

Anthurium dressleri

Name: Anthurium dressleri Croat

Etymology: The specific epithet dressleri honors the American botanist Robert L. Dressler.

First described: 1978 by Thomas B. Croat.

Origin/Distribution: Panama.

Habitat: Terrestrial, occasionally lithophytic, in warm, moist lowland forests and on well-drained slopes. We grow the species in warm conditions at approximately 20–28°C, with high humidity, good air circulation, and bright, indirect light.

Description and notes: Anthurium dressleri is particularly sought after for its exceptionally dark, velvety leaves. A coarse, humus-rich, and very airy aroid substrate kept consistently slightly moist supports vigorous growth.
