Name: Anthurium draconopterum Sodiro
Etymology: The epithet draconopterum is derived from the words for "dragon" and "wing" and refers to the striking leaf shape.
Origin/Distribution: Northwestern South America.
Location/Habitat: Predominantly terrestrial, occasionally epiphytic in moist Andean forests. We cultivate the species at intermediate temperatures of around 16–25 °C, with high humidity, good air circulation, and bright to partial shade, indirect light.
Description and Notes: Anthurium draconopterum is an unusual botanical species with distinctly lobed leaves that become highly characteristic with age. In the seedlings offered, the typical leaf shape develops gradually. We keep a coarse, humus-rich, and well-ventilated substrate consistently slightly moist.
