Description

Anthurium dolichostachyum

Name: Anthurium dolichostachyum Sodiro

Etymology: The genus name Anthurium derives from the Greek words anthos and oura. dolichostachyum refers to the long inflorescence.

First description: 1901 by Luis Sodiro.

Origin/Distribution: Ecuador.

Location/Habitat: Predominantly terrestrial in the humid tropical forests of the Andes. We cultivate this species under intermediate to warm conditions at around 18–27 °C, with high humidity and good air circulation.

Description and notes: The species can change noticeably as it develops and has a long, striking inflorescence. For cultivation, we recommend a coarse, humus-rich, well-aerated substrate that is kept evenly moist.
