Name: Anthurium decipiens A.Hay & M.Cedeño
Etymology: The Latin specific epithet decipiens means "deceiving" and refers to its former confusion with Anthurium salgarense.
First description: 2019 by Alistair Hay and Marco Cedeño.
Origin/Distribution: Colombia.
Location/Habitat: Mostly terrestrial in moist forests of the western Colombian Andes at an altitude of approximately 1,300–2,000 m. We recommend temperate to warm conditions of approximately 17–27 °C, high humidity, good air circulation, and bright, filtered light.
Description and notes: This very large-growing species forms leathery, dark green, high-gloss leaves; leaf veins and petioles can show wine-red to violet tones. The inflorescence can become exceptionally long, and ripening fruits change from a dark to a vibrant orange color. For the vigorous roots, choose a large container with a coarse, airy aroid substrate and keep it consistently slightly moist.
