Name: Anthurium debilipeltatum Croat
Etymology: The artepitheton debilipeltatum combines terms for “weak” and “shield-shaped” and refers to the only slightly shield-shaped leaf base.
Origin/Distribution: Peru.
Location/Habitat: Lithophytic on limestone cliffs in premontane tropical forests near Tingo María. We cultivate the species in warm to intermediate conditions at approximately 18–27 °C, with high humidity, good air circulation, and bright, indirect light. The substrate should be particularly coarse and well-drained.
Description and Notes: Anthurium debilipeltatum is one of the more compact Anthurium species. The characteristic leaf base extends slightly beyond the base of the petiole. Consistent light moisture is beneficial; we avoid permanently waterlogged substrate.
