Name: Anthurium cutucuense Madison
Etymology: The specific epithet cutucuense refers to the Cordillera de Cutucú in southeastern Ecuador.
First described: 1978 by Michael T. Madison.
Origin/Distribution: Ecuador.
Location/Habitat: Predominantly hemiepiphytic or epiphytic, less commonly terrestrial, in moist montane cloud forests. We cultivate the species in cool to intermediate conditions at approximately 14–23 °C, with very high humidity, good air circulation, and bright, indirect light.
Description and Notes: Anthurium cutucuense is a characteristic species from the moist mountain forests of southeastern Ecuador. A coarse, airy, and slightly moisture-retaining aroid substrate, as well as consistent moisture without waterlogging, is particularly important for cultivation.
