Name: Anthurium crystallinum Linden & André
Etymology: The specific epithet crystallinum means “crystalline” and refers to the strikingly shiny, light-colored venation.
Origin/Distribution: Central America to northwestern South America.
Habitat/Environment: Terrestrial, lithophytic, or epiphytic in moist tropical forests. We cultivate the young plants at approximately 18–27 °C, with high humidity, good air circulation, and bright, indirect light. We keep the coarse, humus-rich substrate evenly moist.
Description and Notes: Anthurium crystallinum develops velvety, heart-shaped leaves with striking silvery-white venation. In the young plants offered in 5.5 cm pots, the final leaf proportions and characteristic venation are still developing and will become more pronounced as the plants mature.
