Name: Anthurium crystallinum Linden & André ‘Silver’
Etymology: crystallinum means "crystal-like" and refers to the strikingly bright venation; ‘Silver’ denotes a selection with particularly strong silvery markings.
First description: 1873 by Jean Jules Linden and Édouard-François André.
Origin/Distribution: The species originates from northwestern South America and adjacent parts of Central America.
Location/Habitat: We cultivate ‘Silver’ in warm to intermediate conditions at about 19–27 °C, with high humidity and bright, indirect light. We keep the coarse, airy aroid substrate consistently slightly moist.
Description and notes: The velvety, heart-shaped leaves possess a striking light veining, which in this selection is particularly silvery and broad. We protect the leaves from direct, intense sun and ensure good air circulation in high humidity.
