Name: Anthurium Ecuagenera Waves
Parents: Anthurium veitchii × Anthurium forgetii
Cultivation: Hybrid by Ecuagenera.
Etymology: The genus name Anthurium derives from the Greek anthos ("flower") and oura ("tail"). Ecuagenera Waves refers to the distinctly wavy or textured leaf surface.
Location/Cultivation Conditions: We grow the hybrid in bright to partial shade at approximately 18–27°C, with high humidity and good air circulation. We keep the coarse, airy aroid substrate evenly slightly moist, but avoid waterlogging. A climbing support or elevated cultivation gives the increasingly larger leaves sufficient space.
Description and Notes: Anthurium Ecuagenera Waves combines the long, strongly wavy, and textured leaves of Anthurium veitchii with the velvety leaf texture and characteristic closed sinus of Anthurium forgetii. In young plants, not all characteristics are fully developed yet; the shape and structure change significantly with age.
