Name: Anthurium Dr. Tom Croat
Parents: Anthurium regale × Anthurium besseae cf.
Cultivation: Hybrid by Ecuagenera.
Etymology: The genus name Anthurium derives from the Greek anthos ("flower") and oura ("tail"). The name Dr. Tom Croat honors the American botanist Thomas B. Croat, who is particularly known for his extensive scientific work on the Araceae family.
Location/Growing Conditions: We cultivate the hybrid in bright to partial shade at approximately 18–27 °C, with high humidity and very good air circulation. A coarse, humus-rich, and airy aroid substrate should remain evenly lightly moist without being constantly wet.
Description and Notes: Anthurium Dr. Tom Croat combines the majestic leaf appearance and striking venation of Anthurium regale with the darker, more compact leaf appearance of the parent plant listed as Anthurium besseae cf. The velvety leaves can develop striking contrasting venation. In seedlings, leaf size, shape, and venation vary.
